This season, look forward to over 12 engaging events designed to help members grow as reflective change-makers, optimistic futurists, and human-centered design thinkers. These experiential and interactive sessions will deepen your understanding of L+D concepts and provide early access to innovative prototypes. With a mix of informal coffees, exploratory think tanks, and two book studies, each event is crafted to build connection within our learning community and strengthen your capacity to lead with creativity and impact.

This year’s lineup (with more on the way):

More Curious Than Certain: The Season Opener, with L+D Partner, Joe Romano

(Tuesday, September 24: 3:00p EST / 12:00p PST)

Join L+Doers Unite! for an energizing start to the year as we dive into curiosity in leadership. Rather than leaning on the illusion of certainty, we’ll explore how remaining open to possibilities can drive growth within ourselves, our communities, and our learners. Through interactive activities and shared reflections, we’ll connect with other leaders, discover what sparks our collective curiosity, and chart areas for future members’ only events, think tanks, and resources.

Design for Election Season: Get Curious About What’s Next, with L+D Executive Director Carla Silver and Partner, Joe Romano

(Monday, October 21: 3:00p EST / 12:00p PST)

Join L+D for a timely session designed to help school leaders prepare for the range of outcomes following the upcoming election and their impact on school communities. We’ll explore strategies to navigate emotions, embrace uncertainty, and address potential polarization. Together, we will practice approaches that amplify empathy, support colleagues, and sustain inclusive spaces. This session focuses on practical steps to rise above post-election divisiveness, ensuring every voice is heard and valued, no matter the results on Election Day.

Winter Meet Up, with the L+D Team

(Tuesday, December 17: 3:30p EST / 12:30p PST)

Join your fellow L+Doers Unite! members for a laid-back, year-end meetup to connect, share what’s been happening, and reflect on the journey so far. This is a space to build on our relationships, exchange thoughts, and set fresh intentions for the year ahead. As we wrap up this calendar year, let’s come together to pause, learn from each other, and consider how we want to grow as a community, with curiosity and support leading the way.

Seeing Schools as Human Systems, with L+D Co-Founder, Greg Bamford, and Partner, Joe Romano

(February - date forthcoming)

Schools are dynamic human systems, often influenced by hidden forces that shape their culture. What are common traps that limit growth and collaboration in these environments? Guided by the work of Barry Oshry’s Seeing Systems, this workshop will help participants understand the complexities of school culture, exploring how leaders can help prevent communities from establishing reflexive patterns fueled by dynamics like miscommunication, role rigidity, and internal competition. Through hands-on simulations and case studies, participants will uncover ways to navigate these challenges and cultivate a more connected, inclusive, and thriving school culture.

Exploring the Unconscious Leadership Brain, with L+D Co-founder and Partner, Ryan Burke

(March - date forthcoming)

Leaders in school are faced with more decisions of consequence than any other profession. Intuitively, this resonates because a school building is dynamic, constantly moving, and every child is attached to multiple adults that unconsciously have years of experiences, thoughts and feelings that get projected onto the school, teachers and the child throughout the year. This is normal, and it is not going to change. Parents, teachers, children are not going to get more rational or less emotional, and school leaders often get emotionally hijacked by the thoughts and feelings of other people, and when this happens, we respond in ways that cause more trouble, more work, and we feel overwhelmed, tired and sometimes even like we are not up to the job. Exploring the part of our brain that gets us in trouble reflexively can take a lifetime, so we thought an L+Doer's Unite Member session was the perfect place to begin this exploration as part of L+D programming.

Schools as Ecosystems: Cultivating Communities of Growth, with L+D Partners Tara Curry-Jahn and Joe Romano

(April, date forthcoming)

Spring’s a season of renewal, and what better time to assess and plot your community’s initiatives with this deeper dive into EcoCycle Planning. In this session, you’ll gain deeper hands-on experience with the tool, learning how to use this mindset to stoke curiosity and growth in your community. We’ll explore how to apply Ecocycle Planning to reflect on the past year and strategically plan for the next, ensuring your school maintains a balanced and dynamic approach to growth and innovation. Leave this session with new ways to cultivate a thriving school ecosystem.

The Wrap: Reflecting on the Year, with the L+D Team

(June - date forthcoming)

Join us for The Wrap, a reflective year-end event where L+Doers Unite! members come together to explore the past year. This gathering is an opportunity to share stories, insights, and experiences that have emerged from our pursuit of curiosities. Through conversations and reflections, we’ll celebrate the paths we’ve traveled, the questions we’ve asked, and the connections we’ve made, closing the year with a collective sense of discovery and anticipation for what lies ahead.

Lean Coffee, with L+D Partner Joe Romano

(July - date forthcoming)

Lean Coffee is an engaging, structured but agenda-less event where L+Doers Unite! members gather to discuss topics of mutual interest. Participants propose meaningful topics, and the group collectively prioritizes them for discussion, ensuring that the most relevant and pressing issues are addressed. The format is designed for flexibility, allowing for open and productive conversations about all that you have underway in the summer months as we plan for the coming year, whether you’re brainstorming solutions, sharing experiences, or exploring new ideas.

We’ll continue to add more programming as we progress through the 24-25 season together. Look back here in the coming weeks and months, and check out our member newsletter for even more information about what we have in store for members this season.
Most L+Doers Unite! events are scheduled via a Doodle poll sent to all current members, helping us serve the most members possible. We may adjust topics based on member feedback.

Slack Community

We have a dedicated workspace on Slack for L+Doers to share ideas and articles, ask questions and give answers, get feedback on their work, tell jokes and feel connected. The link below should take you to set up your L+Doers Unite Slack account.
